After a Brief Pause...

Well, after a brief hiatus, Joey and Jen are back. We haven't really been gone (in fact Jen has been updating her blog). We're still enjoying Greenville and being married. Although the work schedule of a medical intern (once again she's the doctor - I married up!) is a little haphazard at times, we're learning how to make it work for us.

You may wonder what I'm doing with all this time on my hands....Well, I'm glad you asked. I got my library card back at the end of June (Josh Phoebus was quite proud of me), and have been a frequenter of many Greenville Library Locations. I've been catching up on my reading and trying to get a business leadership education for free (minus the time I have invested) from the shelves of the library. I've recently begun working part time assisting a friend with his real estate business. Also, I'm trying to keep up with what's going on in the world and make parts of my life a little easier to manage and have recently made my own Google page and have put a lot of the sites and information I search for daily all in one place. I'm still learning (and I know I'm far behind many of you who have streamlined a lot of your processes earlier), but I'm glad to be plugging in.

Also, we wanted to say congratulations to our friends who have been having babies. Apparently it was quite an eventful Christmas/New Years season this past year. Congratulations to BR and Kelli, Josh and Carrie Anne, and Ellyn & Faamata.

If you're ever in or passing through Greenville, then give us a call!

More Pictures

Here are some more pictures from Puerto Rico. Subtitled: Yes, Jen was actually there as well!

We're Back

Yes, we've braved the third world U.S. territory of Puerto Rico (completed with horses on the road, u-turns from the right-hand left turn lane, and lots of untasty fried food) and are now back in Greenville. We had a great time and thought we'd share some pictures with you. Hope you enjoy!

Tools?

Jen and I spent part of this past weekend in Wilkesboro packing up stuff for the move in a couple of weeks. We enjoyed a favorite Saturday food of rural southern towns - BBQ Chicken. We also attended a tool shower. I must admit, after the pre-shower gift on Friday morning, I was a little concerned about this "tool" shower and the kinds of "tools" that I might receive. However, it was a great time. Thanks so much to the guys of the journey bible study for throwing the shower. I'm definitley more well equipped to fix anything that breaks or could break in the coming months.
On Sunday, we spent the day at Elevation (www.elevationchurch.org). Sunday night was a special time of worship and vision casting for the volunteers. Jen really enjoyed it and I was glad that she got to be a part of that time. Only 17 days left until the wedding, and I'm sure it will go quickly. Don't forget to check out what's going on with Jen on her blog (www.jenfarnum.blogspot.com).

April Showers...

We're now in the middle of some showers. Last weekend Jen's friends threw her a shower in Greenville (you can check out pictures on her blog - www.jenfarnum.blogspot.com). Apparently she had to answer questions about how well she knew the groom before opening each present. She missed a couple of questions, but I guess they let her open the gifts anyway. Thanks so much ladies. This weekend, some guys in Charlotte are having a tool shower for us, so I'll finally get in on the shower fun.
We went to the Brick Street Cafe (where we're having our reception) this past weekend for a birthday dinner for Jen, and got to sample some cakes. If you get a choice, the Sweet Potato cake is the best, but the German Chocolate is a close second. We're slowly beginning to pack for our move. It's only about two weeks away now. Also, Jen would like me to tell you that we got our wedding bands this past weekend. Well, at least one of them. We're still working on hers, but mine is ready and in her possession. Thanks for reading!

Home Sweet Home!

Lots of activity this weekend. Most importantly we celebrated Jen's birthday and her dad's birthday (his was actually today). We had some of the Farnum's Famous Skewers (I would have used shishkabobs, but I'm not sure I could spell it correctly), and some very interesting presents.

Also, we now have a place to live! We braved the interesting and sometimes shady salespeople and we now have an apartment in Greenville (which is where Jen is doing her residency). Things are moving right along. Jen has another shower this weekend that her friends are throwing for her, and her aunt is coming down from the DC area to be there.

Happy Birthday Jen!!!

Today is Jen's Birthday. She's still quite young, especially compared to me. Please call her, e-mail her, and leave a comment on her blog (www.jenfarnum.blogspot.com) and wish her a Happy Birthday!!!

Highs and Lowe's

In Highs, we're together this weekend in Charlotte celebrating Easter. We're excited to get to spend some relaxing time together. We'll celebrate Easter tomorrow at Elevation Church, http://www.elevationchurch.org/, with our new series "When Life and Truth Collide." If you're in Charlotte, come check it out, we'll be at Providence High School at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30, and in Union county at Porter Ridge High School at 11am.
In Lowe's. We have some sad news. After many attempts to register at Lowe's with their amazing online and in-store gift registry system, we've thrown in the towel. We're no longer registered/attempting to register at Lowe's. Apparently the gift registry system, which was supposed to go live last fall, is yet to be unleashed. Thanks to all the kind, long-suffering customer service personnel at Lowe's who've endure my countless questions and concerns as I've delved deeper into the mystery that is the universal Lowe's gift registry. However, no fear, we've added a few "gender appropriate (i.e. manly)" items at Target, www.target.com, and Bed, Bath, & Beyond, www.bedbathandbeyond.com.

Lots of Updates!

Let us first apologize for the delay in posting. Jen's been back from Mexico for a while now and lots of things have happened. We've got to spend some good time together and catch up. We've finalized our honeymoon plans, started looking for places to live and have done some planning for life after our wedding day. We've continued pre-marital counseling (after a few months with me she'll probably need some post-marital counseling as well). Jen also attended our first shower (Thanks again to the ladies of Shannon Forest Prebyterian Church, and the Farnum's covenant group!). You can check out some pictures from the event on Jen's blog - the link is on the right. Also, a couple of weeks ago we took a little break from the planning and went to see Matt Wertz in concert. No, Matt wasn't looking that "cool" when we saw him, but white jacket before Easter aside, the music was great. Look for more information very soon.
